今天到Stanford旁聽一門嚮往已久, 特想一窺究盡的課 "Data Visualization"
好玩的地方在於, 當Big Data在這簡易取得的時代, 從中萃取出甚麼才是重點. 萃取的資訊可以做決定,可以累積人類的知識. 今天光是個美國從1850-2000每十年的人口普查資料,透過互動工具可看出戰後嬰兒潮, 離婚率, 男女性平均壽命, 或是受教育年紀的改變. 太有趣, 這有點像是科學家想當藝術家的一個intersection.
這樣萃取資料以visual effect來學習真是我一直就喜歡做的事情. 譬如每個月的電費通知都會顯示你在這區用電排名或是一年的趨勢. 每次看到都很興奮, 因為這就種user modeling.可以看到冬天因為吹暖氣所以電費貴, 或早晚上煮飯有個peak.
但有張上課的quote分享一下, 讓我們在這資訊如巨浪沖擊而來的生活中, 有時停下腳步想想.
